TRANSPORTATION RESEARCH FORUM

Dedicated to the exchange of ideas among
researchers, professionals, and students and
an informed citizenry since 1958.

St. Louis Chapter

St. Louis Chapter, established in 2018, provides an impartial meeting ground for the academic institutions of the Greater St. Louis region to discuss and collaborate on research, student engagement, and community outreach. Its research is showcased at meetings and webinars, TRF’s Annual Forum, and our organization’s peer-reviewed journal Research in Transportation Economics. The chapter’s student engagement and community outreach activities include tours, expert presentations, panel discussions, webinars, and networking events.

To promote transportation education, the St. Louis Chapter hosts a student paper contest to recognize outstanding papers written by students across the region on current transportation issues. In 2025, St. Louis will host the 66 th Annual Forum, providing students and faculty the opportunity to engage and
present on the national stage.

The chapter draws upon St. Louis’s rich history of transportation. Since its founding in 1764, the city has been the confluence of important transportation routes.  The region is home to four interstate highways, six Class I railroads, the country’s third-largest inland port, and five airports, making it a prominent hub for national and global transportation and logistics networks.
